Week 3 — Art Activity — Drawing

- It was fun to do this assignment because it reminded me of high school art class when we did something similar to this. I don’t really enjoy drawing because I don’t really like how it turns out. I feel like it looks bad and then I don’t like to draw. But I tried this thing last time when I got an image then drew lines into it and in a blank paper too. Then I went box by box and drew the image like that and I think that it came out better. Also drawing upside down is better because one doesn’t focus on the actual image but more on the shapes and lines. I will probably try to do it again but I think that it is better to copy an image than to draw something that is live and present in front of me.
- If I practiced for 1,000 hours I do really think that I will improve my drawing skills. But that will require a lot of patience and dedication to sit and draw. I will have to do it continually and draw different things. I think that after a lot of practice I will start improving. Just like the example used, if one practices a certain event repeatedly they will improve over time. Like trial and error until it gets better. So just like that, if I practiced drawing for such a long amount of time, I will improve.
- My major is Criminal Justice, I do think that simple sketching is useful in my major because if one is trying to describe a criminal or a suspect you can draw it out. Or when you are interviewing someone over a specific person, you need to know how to do specific details of the face to get a simple description of the person. You also need to match the description to the picture that you draw because little features do count. So yes, it is a useful thing in the criminal justice field.
- Yes, drawing is a language that is a way to express your thoughts with out speaking words. There are somethings that can’t really expressed by words like one’s feelings, or it might be hard to, and you can draw it out. Like how you feel about a certain topic but don’t want to physically say it or can’t really express it. But with drawing you can express yourself. I feel not only with drawing but also in the colors you draw, if you draw in dark colors then it can be seen as feeling sad, or a strong feeling of something.
